A southern Alberta lawyer was appointed to the Alberta Court of Justice serving the southern region on Wednesday.
The appointment of Ryan D. Anderson, KC, becomes effective May 1.
Anderson, who grew up on the family farm south of Magrath, is a  partner of Huckvale Wilde Harvie MacLennan LLP, which has offices in Lethbridge and Fort Macleod.
He is a sessional instructor at Lethbridge Polytechnic, past chair of Lethbridge Law Day and a member of the Lethbridge Bar Association. Anderson has also served as a bencher for the Law Society of Alberta since 2018 and he sits on the board of SASH Disability Support Services and the Magrath Agricultural Society.
Anderson earned a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Calgary in 2002 after graduating from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science degree.
He joined Huckvale in 2009 and entered into partnership two years later.
The government also announced the appointment of a new justice of the peace to serve the Edmonton region.
“Filling judicial positions at the Alberta Court of Justice has been a priority as it directly improves the responsiveness of the justice  system, helping ensure Albertans have timely access to justice. I  would like to congratulate those newly appointed and wish them success  in their new roles,” said Minister of Justice Mickey Amery in a statement.
