sports@medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews The Medicine Hat Tigers are near the tip top of the Canadian Hockey League rankings. The final CHL top-10 rankings, released Tuesday, had Medicine Hat at third among all CHL teams. The Tigers (47-17-3-1) closed out the season with a 5-2 win Sunday over the No. 9 ranked Calgary Hitmen. That record is the most wins and points (98) the Tigers have had in a single season since 2016-17. They also captured their first regular season conference title since 2006-07 and first Central division title since 2017-18. The Tigers were atop the CHL’s preseason rankings, and throughout the season they spent 13 of 24 weeks in the top-10. Medicine Hat was ranked behind the QMJHL’s Moncton Wildcats (53-9-2) and the OHL’s London Knights, who led the CHL with 55 wins and 112 points (55-11-2). The other WHL teams on the CHL’s final rankings were the Everett Silvertips (fifth), Spokane Chiefs (sixth) and Hitmen. 9
