AMAC Swim Club races at winter provincial championships

The Alberta Marlin Aquatic Club raced in Edmonton over the weekend.

The local swim club sent 10 qualified swimmers who raced against 29 other teams at the winter provincial champions, returning with 11 medals.

Abigail Begin (17) had two new best times, finishing 11th in 50m backstroke prelim, 13th in 100m backstroke prelim, 16th in 100m butterfly prelim, 17th in 100m breaststroke prelim, 18th in 200m IM prelim, 19th in 400m Free RELAY, 20th in 50m breaststroke prelim, 25th in 50m butterfly prelim and 26th in 50m freestyle prelim. Additionally, in the Best of the Rest final, Begin placed third in 50m backstroke final and sixth in 100m backstroke final.

Rowynn Biffart (16): Had four new best times, finishing first in 200m butterfly final, second in 50m freestyle prelim, 50m butterfly final, 100m butterfly prelim, 100m butterfly final, 100m freestyle final and 200m butterfly prelim, third in 50m butterfly prelim and 50m freestyle final, fourth in 100m freestyle prelim, sixth in 100m breaststroke prelim and 100m breaststroke final, 12th in 50m backstroke prelim, 13th in 100m backstroke prelim and 19th in 400m Free RELAY.

Additionally, in the Best of the Rest final, Biffart placed fourth in 50m backstroke final.

Lauren Gainsborough (14): Had seven new best times, finishing 13th in 100m breaststroke prelim, 14th in 200m breaststroke prelim, 15th in 50m butterfly prelim, 16th in 50m breaststroke prelim and 100m backstroke prelim, 18th in 200m backstroke prelim, 20th in 100m butterfly prelim and 24th in 100m freestyle prelim.

Morgan Hobson (16): Had seven new best times, finishing 12th in 100m breaststroke prelim and 200m breastroke prelim, 13th in 200m IM prelim, 14th in 50m breaststroke prelim, 18th in 100m backstroke prelim, 19th in 400m freestyle RELAY, 20th in 50m butterfly prelim, 25th in 100m butterfly prelim and 34th in 50m freestyle prelim. Additionally, in the Best of the Rest final, Hobson placed second in 50m breaststroke final and 200m breaststroke final and fourth in 100m breaststroke final.

Johnathan Marshall (17): Had two new best times, finishing 20th in 100m breaststroke prelim and 400m freestyle RELAY, 24th in 100m backstroke prelim, 27th in 50m breaststroke prelim, 29th in 50m butterfly prelim and 100m freestyle prelim and 32nd in 50m freestyle prelim.

Caen McWilliams (15): Had seven new best times, finishing fifth in 100m backstroke final and 200m backstroke final, sixth in 200m freestyle prelim and 200m backstroke prelim, eighth in 50m backstroke prelim and 100m backstroke prelim, ninth in 50m backstroke final, 50m freestyle final and 50m freestyle prelim, 13th in 100m freestyle prelim, 14th in 50m butterfly prelim, 20th in 100m butterfly prelim and 400m freestyle RELAY.

Lily McWilliams (14): Had nine new best times, finishing second in 50m butterfly swim-off, fifth in 50m freestyle prelim and 50m freestyle final, ninth in 100m freestyle prelim, 100m freestyle final and 100m backstroke prelim, 10th in 100m backstroke final, 11th in 400m freestyle prelim, 12th in 50m butterfly prelim, 15th in 200m IM prelim and 200m freestyle prelim, 18th in 50m breaststroke prelim and 19th in 400m freestyle RELAY.

Masao Mori (13): Had 13 new best times, finishing first in 400m IM prelim, second in 50m butterfly prelim, 200m IM final, 200m butterfly final, 200m breaststroke final, 400m IM final and 400m freestyle final, third in 100m butterfly prelim and 100m butterfly final, fourth in 50m butterfly final, 200m IM prelim, 200m butterfly prelim, 200m breaststroke prelim, 200m backstroke final and 400m freestyle prelim, sixth in 200m backstroke prelim and 20th in 400m freestyle RELAY.

Aliya Seeley (15): Had three new best times, finishing sixth in 400m IM prelim and 400m IM final, 19th in 50m breaststroke prelim, 22nd in 200m IM prelim, 27th in 50m butterfly prelim, 29th in 200m freestyle prelim and 32nd in 100m freestyle prelim.

Leo Yonkman (15): Had seven new best times, finishing 14th in 50m breaststroke prelim, 18th in 100m breaststroke prelim, 20th in 400m freestyle RELAY, 22nd in 50m freestyle prelim, 24th in 100m freestyle prelim, 26th in 100m backstroke prelim and 28th in 200m IM prelim.

Next up for the AMAC club is the Dino Cup, April 12-13 in Calgary.
