newsdesk@medicinehatnews.com The Medicine Hat Public School Division is encouraging parents with children ages 3-5 to book a free child development checkup to ensure their language development is on course. The checkup is a routine assessment that monitors a child’s growth and development in areas including motor skills, language, thinking, behaviour and emotions. “Language development is very important for a child’s success in learning as it forms the basis for all reading and writing skills,” reads a press release. Parents can also have their children screens for fine motor, gross motor and socio-emotional development by request. Parents can email debbie.terlson@sd76.ab.ca to book a free appointment. Checkups will run throughout the day April 3 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Hockey Hounds Social Room. 7
