By Canadian Press on March 14, 2025.

BUENOS AIRES — Indomatie Goordial-John scored 42 off 50 balls to lead Canada to a 36-run win over host Argentina on Friday at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Americas Region Qualifier.

The Canadian women improved to 3-1-0 atop the four-team tournament that will send one side on to represent the region in the final stage of qualification, the 10-team ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier 2026.

Canada defeated the U.S. by nine runs in its opening match Monday before being edged out by host Argentina on Tuesday. The Canadians bounced back by defeating Brazil by seven wickets on Thursday.

Canada won the toss Friday and elected to bat at the St. Albans Club. Captain Amarpal Kaur, batting fourth, was 33 not out as Canada finished its allotted 20 overs at 110 for three.

Both of Argentina’s openers went cheaply with the home side reeling at 18 for three midway through the fifth over. Captain Alison Stocks was the only batsman to offer resistance, scoring 25 off 28 balls, as Argentina finished at 74 all out in 19.2 overs.

Kaur and Krima Kapadia each took two wickets for Canada.

Canada plays Brazil (1-2) on Sunday and the U.S. (2-1) on Monday.
