asmith@medicinehatnews.com As part of the International Day of Zero Waste, the Medicine Hat Interpretive Program is hosting a pop-up Stuff Swap to encourage residents to find new treasures among others old belongings. Those interested in participating are encouraged to bring five or fewer portable items to the Nature Centre, where they can see what others have donated and potentially find something they would like to bring home. “No spare stuff? No problem! There is always enough to go around,” said park interpreter Genevieve Mathieu. They ask that items which cannot be easily carried by one person, as well as broken, stained, ripped, incomplete partially consumed products be left at home, to ensure the items on offer are all in good condition. “Please avoid bringing boxes/bags full of multiple items as this pop-up event does not have the capacity to deal with large amounts of stuff,” said Mathieu. The event will begin at 1 p.m. on March 30, with the cutoff for donations at 3 p.m. and the event ending at 4 p.m. Any items remaining at the end of the day will be donated to local non-profit organizations in the community. For more information, residents are encouraged to please call the Nature Line at 403-529-6225. 9
