The Medicine Hat College Rattlers men’s futsal team are golden in 2025.
The Rattlers captured ACAC gold on Sunday, beating the NAIT Ooks 4-2 in the final hosted at Lakeland College.
They entered the tournament with a 6-1-3 regular season record, good for first in the South and went undefeated in the championship tournament.
The Rattlers beat the Keyano College Huskies 4-0 on Friday before tying the Olds College Broncos 4-4 on Saturday.
They punched a finals ticket with a 5-1 win over the Lakeland College Rustlers on Sunday to face off against NAIT.
MHC’s men’s futsal team had three players recognized by the ACAC, with João Nascimento and João Cintra both named to the South mens first-team and Stefan Vrska named to the South’s second-team. Men’s head coach Damir Omerovic was named the South men’s futsal coach of the year.
The Rattlers women’s futsal team also returned from the ACAC championships with a medal, winning bronze at Lakeland College.
They beat the host Rustlers 3-2 in an overtime game Sunday to claim the title.
The Rattlers’ women’s team finished their regular season 7-3, second in the South. They opened the tournament with a 3-1 loss to NAIT, bouncing back with a 2-1 win over the Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks. They lost 1-0 in a rematch with NAIT on Sunday, sending them to the bronze medal game.
