@MedicineHatNews A Medicine Hat man charged with stealing a firearm may seek a preliminary hearing and bail later this month now that he has pleaded guilty to spray painting a stolen truck. Chazdynn Michael Reimer, 19, received 120 days in jail at Medicine Hat Court of Justice on Tuesday after pleading guilty to possession of stolen property valued above $5,000. That translated to time served for the man who will remain in custody as he faces a more serious set of charges, including breaking and entering to steal a firearm, possession of a restricted firearm and stolen property. Defence attorney Vincent Guinan told court that with the minor matter resolved he plans to present a bail plan at the man’s next appearance on March 12. Court documents state that local police received a report from Lethbridge authorities that a 1999 Dodge Ram had been stolen on Nov. 15, 2024, and the next day MHPS received a tip the vehicle was on the Southeast Hill. They discovered the vehicle locked and abandoned, but later observed the vehicle on security camera footage at two local businesses. One video, said prosecutors, showed Reimer with spray paint on his hands. Justice Sylvia Oishi accepted the sentencing recommendation from Crown and defence attorney and imposed the 120-day sentence. 9
