Local woman wins $500,000 on Daily Grand lotto

Medicine Hat resident Janice Adams said the first thing she got with her Daily Grand winnings was a new vacuum.

The winning ticket was drawn Nov. 14 of last year, earning Adams a total of $500,000, which she initially believed to be a mistake.

“I checked (the ticket) on the app a couple of times, then I checked it manually on the WCLC website,” said Adams. “I thought it was wrong! I just didn’t believe it. I thought it was a glitch and there was just no way.”

Once the win was confirmed however, she said she started making plans on how she might spend the windfall, though she already made her initial purchase.

“I bought a vacuum already,” said Adams. “The first thing I thought was, ‘What do I need? A good vacuum!”
