newsdesk@medicinehatnews.com One vehicle passenger sustained serious injuries and was transported to the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital via HALO, and two drivers are being treated for minor injuries at Bid County Hospital following a collision between two vehicles that occurred around noon Thursday. Police say a motor vehicle was travelling eastbound on Highway 570 when it struck another vehicle travelling northbound on Highway 41, just outside the town of Oyen. It’s unknown how many people were involved in the collision at this time, however police say a passenger sustained “serious injuries” and was rushed to Medicine Hat. The highway was closed while first responders attended the scene. An officer with the province’s RCMP Collision Reconstruction Program was also on hand to assist with the investigation that remains ongoing. Impaired driver charged Later in the evening on Thursday, Oyen RCMP responded to a head-on collision between a semi-truck and motor vehicle that led to the arrest of a 58-year-old man from Oyen for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. Police say no injuries were reported, and speed and weather were not factors in the collision that occurred around 6 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 895 and Railway Avenue. The driver of the pickup truck was arrested and his vehicle was impounded. The driver was issued an Immediate Roadside Sanction for impaired driving, along with two additional violations under the Traffic Safety Act. 10
