A new offering for some of the smallest park explorers, the latest Discovery Tree Program from the Medicine Hat Interpretive Program aims to show children the wonder of trees.

Aimed at children aged 2-5, this imaginative program will have a whimsical and fun approach with a hands-on nature experience for all the preschoolers involved, said Mhairi Donnelly, assistant chief interpreter.

“We will be exploring some of the trees that grow in the park; looking for the plants and animals that grow and live around them; listening for the ‘heartbeat’ of the trees; and doing some bark rubbings,” said Donelly. Registration is required for participation, and all children must be accompanied by an adult.

This program will take place in Strathcona park on Feb. 12 from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
