The Root Cellar Food and Wellness Hub is launching a new monthly-donor program for members of the community looking to make an impact.

Following the success of the Pantry Program campaign, the Root Cellar has expanded the program to allow supporters to choose three accessible levels of donations, starting at $5.

The Pantry Partner Monthly Donor Program provides monthly giving options of $5, $15 and $25 that the food bank says will significantly make a difference for low-income individuals and families. It says monthly recurring donations will directly support thousands of residents who access the food bank every year.

According to the Root Cellar, a $5 monthly donation can help provide fresh produce and pantry staples for individuals in need.

A monthly donation of $15 will also support online programs and resources that empower families, and a $25 monthly donation will also ensure the Root Cellar remains in operation and helps keep the shelves stocked with food.

Executive director Melissa Mullis says the new monthly donation campaign is inspired by small gestures of kindness, like lending a neighbour a cup of sugar, and hopes those small donations add up to a huge impact.

“Through our Pantry Partner Monthly Donor Program, every contribution no matter how small, helps us stock our shelves, fund our programs and provide food to those facing food insecurity in Medicine Hat,” says Mullis. “It’s an easy way for people to be good neighbours, one month at a time.”

To become a donor visit mhrootcellar.com and look for ‘Pantry Partner Donor Program’ under the ‘Donate’ tab, then select a desired monthly donation amount.

“We rely on the generosity of our Pantry Partners to keep this important work going,” says Mullis. “Every donation, big or small, helps us meet the growing demand for food and wellness programs in our community. Our goal is to empower our neighbours and create a healthier, more resilient Medicine Hat.”
