Pat was active in the Redcliff community, involved in Girl Guides, was a Brownie leader, taught Sunday School, babysat regularly, and loved caring for her baby brother, Jack. She worked at Dominion Glass in Redcliff, followed by a banking position in Medicine Hat until her marriage. After meeting at a square dance in Redcliff, she married Clarence on October 6th, 1962, and became a farm wife in the Schuler area. Many a day was spent running warm meals to Clarence and the boys in the fields during the long summer days. She also quickly earned her apprenticeship in grain truck driving, cow chasing, and tending to chickens, hogs, and dogs. Gardening was also a passion, producing a large, beautiful, and bountiful vegetable garden every year. Pat was also known for her delicious farm meals, especially her homemade buns, bread, chocolate chip cookies, and pickles. Pat and Clarence raised their sons, Mark and David, in the farm life, nurturing them through the years and instilling in them strong Christian values. Pat and Clarence retired to Medicine Hat in 1987 but continued to be actively involved with the farm and family. After Clarence’s early passing in 1993, Pat continued as the matriarch of her family. Pat loved and was dearly loved by all her grandchildren, forming many special memories throughout her life with each grandchild. Pat also had a unique skill for writing beautiful poems for family occasions. These poems remain cherished keepsakes. Pat was also a passionate and gifted photographer; her grandchildren and prairie and grain field landscapes were her favorite subjects. Pat was faithful throughout her Christian walk, beginning with her family in Redcliff at St. Ambrose, continuing with Clarence and family at the Church of God in Schuler, and then at Temple Baptist Church in Medicine Hat.
