The Medicine Hat Interpretive Program is looking to shed light on some of the lesser-loved members of the prairie ecosystem with its Coyote Awareness Walk. “Join the Medicine Hat Interpretive Program for an educational walk about safe wildlife interactions – specifically coyotes,” said park interpreter Erika Derman in a release. “Each animal plays an important role in a balanced prairie ecosystem, and there are several commonly held beliefs about coyotes that must be addressed.” The walk will cover a variety of topics about the species, including their diet, lifecycle behaviour and habitat, as well as where visitors might see them in the park, and is “perfect for nature-lovers looking to gain skills and confidence when exploring the great outdoors,” said Derman. Those interested in participating are asked to meet for this free program outside the Nature Centre at 2:30 p.m. on Feb 7. No registration is required, but as it is an outdoor offering, participants are asked to dress for the weather. 5
