MARK ERNEST CLARE 1956 – 2025 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at the age of 68 years. Mark spent 20 years in the Canadian Armed Forces and was proud to serve his country. In his retirement years, he spent countless hours tinkering with different adventures. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 43 years, Dianne; daughters, Michelle and Samantha (Ryan); grandchildren Micheal, Kira, Madelyn and Amelia; bonus daughter, Kala Curé; sister, Donna (John) Rothel; sisters-in-law, Debbie Ewald, Dawn Neely, Beth Wagenaar and Shawn Marchuk: as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mark was predeceased by his father, Ronald; mother, Rita; father-in-law, Richard Marchuk; mother-in-law, Lorna Marchuk; brother-in-law, Kelly Neely and Patrick Wagenaar. He fought with everything he had in him and was able to keep a smile on his face and his endless jokes to make others smile. Dad never knew a stranger; anyone he met was a friend; he always had a joke to tell to make others laugh or would sit quietly to be a sounding board to anyone in need. If you ever had the pleasure of meeting him, we are sure he left a lasting impression. His famous saying was, “Don’t sweat the small stuff, and everything small is small stuff.” We would like to thank all the medical staff, friends, and family who helped us tremendously through the final battle. Now, he can rest easy. The battle is over. A private family service will be held at a later date. Anyone wishing to make donations can make donations to a charity of one’s choice. SAMUEL MAIER

SAMUEL MAIER 1931-2025
It is with great sadness that the family of Samuel Maier, beloved husband of Jean Maier (Wutzke) announces his peaceful passing on Saturday, January 18, 2025. Sam, the son of John and Freda Maier, was born on the homestead farm west of Schuler, Alberta on July 18, 1931. He attended school in Schuler. In Sam’s early years he started driving tractors and riding horses which led to a lifelong commitment to grain farming and raising cattle. Sam married Jean Wutzke on November 30,1957. Sam and Jean spent many years together on the farm working side by side. They semi-retired to Medicine Hat, Alberta in 2000. Sam stayed actively involved on the farm until his later years. Whenever one of his kids or grandkids would stop by, he would always ask how the cows were doing, or how the crops were growing, or if the dugouts were full from the spring run-off. Sam and Jean received a centennial homestead plaque from Cypress County and from the province of Alberta. Sam was very proud of this achievement. Left to honor Sam’s memory is his wife, Jean of 67 years. Left to carry on his legacy are his two daughters: Sheila (Arlen) Schafer and Lois (Lyle) Albrecht. Also left to honor his memory are his grandchildren and great grandchildren; Perry (Michelle) Schafer and their children, Chet, Dawson and Nolan; Candice (Randy) Hintz and their children, Hunter and Chase; Travis Albrecht (Nancy Seitz) and their children, Kadance, Harvie and Shawn; Kristi (Royce) Neiguim and their children, Kayler, Pasen, Sawyer, and Pyper. Sam is also survived by his sister Carol (Fred) Voeller and his sister-in-law Helga Maier, his bother-in-law Wallace Wutzke and his sister-in-law Shirley Vossler. Sam was predeceased by his parents John and Freda Maier and by his siblings Irene (Rudy) Hassman, Ida (Robert) Allanbrand, Isabel Maier, Emily (Alf) Ehman and Walter Maier. PAT LIBOIRON

PAT LIBOIRON December 10, 1949 January 17, 2025
Pat Liboiron, a cherished husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away surrounded by family on January 17, 2025, at the age of 75 years. He is survived by his beloved wife Brenda of 53 years, his children Lana (Scott) Stickel, Lisa Liboiron, Leanne (Brandon) Hilgendorf; grandchildren Jade (Dylan) Parker, Makayla Stickel (George Byrde), Silas and Daxton Hilgendorf; great grandchildren Ganon, Finn and Evelin Parker; his siblings Wayne (Melanie) Liboiron, Peggy (Jim) Bengert, Dianna (Paul) Norris, Aunt Sister Clem Liboiron and Brenda’s family Richard (Charlene) Oster, Dale Oster, Randy (Roberta) Oster, Terry Meier, along with numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Pat was predeceased by his parents Joe and Mary Liboiron, brother David Liboiron, in-laws Art and Ellen Oster and sister-in-law Lynn Meier. Dad was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta, and grew up in Riverside. At the age of 13, he spent many days working alongside his dad on the farm. Mom and dad started dating in 1967. Dad took on ranching south of Cavan Lake after graduating. He enjoyed riding his horses and raising cattle. After mom and dad were married, they later moved to town and continued farming north of Irvine. In the summer, mom and dad looked forward to spending time at the cabin in Elkwater. Dad spent countless hours on the lake water skiing and fishing with us and then enjoying a campfire. He also took great pleasure in winning the pot in a game of cards. In the winter months, mom and dad treasured warm beach vacations and heading to Yuma, Arizona, where they created lasting memories with friends. Dad lost his eyesight in 2017, due to cancer. Despite being blind, he continued to support us as we took over the farming venture. He could advise us on the operations on sound itself. Whether it was to increase the RPM on the tractor so the auger wouldn’t plug, or the sound of a loose belt that should be tightened, he often knew how to fix the problem. Dad found immense joy sitting in his quonset with the smell of wheat dust in the air, machinery and kid’s dirt bikes running in the distance, a beer in hand. His loved ones brought him much pride and a zest for life. Dad always had a smile and laughter when family was near, and he embraced them with his whole heart. Dad will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him. Dad beat stage four cancer despite the challenges. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Good Samaritan’s Society and Dr. Jeraj for their outstanding care of dad. Memorial gifts in Pat’s memory may be made to the Canadian Foodgrains Bank. Those who wish to pay their respects may do so at PATTISON FUNERAL HOME AND CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTRE on Monday, January 27, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The prayer service will follow at 7:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated in HOLY FAMILY PARISH (1451 Strachan Road SE) on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Naveed Arif celebrant. The prayer service and funeral mass will be live streamed. Those who wish to attend virtually, please visit Patrick’s obituary page on our website, for the link. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. To leave a message of condolence you may visit http://www.pattisonfuneralhome.com.
