Police arrest man with CO2 pistol following downtown robbery

Police say they have arrested a 38-year-old Medicine Hat man after responding to a call of robbery involving a firearm early Wednesday morning.

After receiving a description of the suspect, officers were able to apprehend a man attempting to leave the scene on foot.

A search of the area near the apprehension of the suspect resulted in the discovery of a black CO2 pellet pistol. Further investigation revealed the suspect used the CO2 pistol while attempting to rob the business by pointing the firearm at the victim and demanding money.

The victim was not physically harmed during the incident. The 38-year-old suspect has been charged with robbery and using imitation firearms to commit an indictable offence. He was released following a Judicial Interim Release Hearing.
