ELSPETH (ELSIE) MAY GREEN May 26, 1939 January 10, 2025
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Elsie May Green (Newick).
Elsie passed away peacefully at the age of 85 with her family at her side. Born and educated in Kelowna, BC. Elsie was the Kelowna Regatta Princess of the Lake. She was also an accomplished singer with many awards and accolades. She was often the lead performer in many musicals in BC. She also recorded an album with her favorite show tune songs. There was always music playing in her home.
She met her husband, Murray in the Okanagan and they were married on March 1st, 1958. Together, they had four children, Kevin (Debbie) Green, Stuart (Carmia) Green, Teri (Fred) Holt and Robyn Green. She was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Murray’s work with the Insurance industry took them to Alberta where they eventually settled in Medicine Hat in 1973. While in Medicine Hat, she was the Southern Alberta Supervisor for Weight Watchers, worked at Kabot Travel as an agent and tour guide, which led to the manager’s position with The Bay Travel.
In 1984, they returned to Vernon, BC. Elsie worked in Vernon at Whims and Wishes Kitchen store.
In 2022, Murray and Elsie returned again to Medicine Hat to be closer to family.
Elsie was preceded by her husband Murray in 2023; her parents, Bud and Margaret Newick; her brother, Wayne; and her in-laws, Alex and Aldea Green.
She loved spending time with her family and most recently with her new special friends at Meadowlands.
Elsie will be greatly missed and remembered for her sparkling personality lighting up every room she entered.
As per Elsie’s wishes, there will be no formal service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elsie’s memory to the Medicine Hat & District Health Foundation.

Eric Raymond Cole went to be with the Lord on January 7, 2025, at the age of 33 years. He is survived by his loving fiancée of four years, Kali Sprott; son, Myren Cole; mother, Denise Cole (Don Pisoni); brother, Matthew (Marina) Cole, and their children, Makayla, Maverick, and Marshal; grandfather, Don Pettyjohn; auntie, Bogusia (Wayne) Lust and their children, Derek (Stacey), Andrew, and Joshua; auntie, Regina (Dean) Durst and their children, Nadine (Jonathon) Blackwell and their children, Neve and Margot, Sabrina (Rory) Garrecht and their children, Tatum and Daxton, Chelsey (Erik) Toews and their children, Stevie and Sloane, Stephanie (Spencer) Kosolofski, and Abbey (Kross) Hepfner; auntie, Helena (Robert) Risling and their children, Amelia (Joel) Mackie and their children, Olivia, Owen and Oaklen, Isaac and Isabella; auntie Anna (Richard) Kappel and their children, Braden, Christopher, and Daniel; uncle, Robert (Pamela) Dumanowski and their children, Kamiel, Zofia, Avaya, and Roman; uncle, Mark (Jody) Dumanowski and their children, Luke (Emily), Adam (Brett), Samuel, and Antonina; auntie, Bernadette (Jean-Paul) Cheret and their children, Wayland and Madison; and uncle, Shane (Shawna) Cole and their children, Luke and James; uncle, Joey (Krista) Pettyjohn and their children, Jordyn and Payton. Eric was predeceased by his father, Kurt Cole; grandma, Ilene Pettyjohn; uncle, Lorne (Adele) Cole; grandfather, Chester Dumanowski, grandma, Sophie Dumanowski, and cousin, Derrick Risling. Eric was born on August 20, 1991, at 12:58 am at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. He grew up in Irvine, Alberta where he attended Irvine School and then Eagle Butte High School. Eric experimented with a few different trades trying to find the one he loved. That’s when he found his true passion in the oilfield. Eric was so dedicated and passionate about his work that he quickly moved onto the position of driller. Eric met Kali in 2021 where their love flourished and soon came to find that they were going to be parents. On May 6, 2022, they welcomed their beautiful baby boy, Myren Cole, into this world, the love of their lives. Eric was a devoted father and fiancé. He loved his family so much, including the many family members near and far. Eric will always be remembered by his larger than life personality and big beautiful smile to match. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so prior to the Vigil Rites (Prayers) from 6:00 pm to 6:55 pm at Saamis Memorial Funeral Chapel. Vigil Rites (Prayers) will be held at Saamis Memorial Funeral Chapel, 1 Dunmore Road SE, Medicine Hat, AB on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 7:00 pm with Deacon Robert Risling officiating.
