JEFFERY VANESS

1948 ~ JEFFERY VANESS ~ 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jeffery Vaness, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who left this world on January 4, 2025, at the age of 76 years. Jeffery was born on March 15, 1948, in Calgary, Alberta, to Frank Vaness and Eleanor Rea, who preceded him in death. His journey through life was marked by warmth, kindness, and a deep love for nature, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him. Jeffery was a man who could light up any room with his infectious smile and outgoing personality. He had a genuine passion for life that radiated through his interactions, making everyone feel welcome and cherished. His love for the outdoors was reflected in his hobbies; he was an avid bird watcher who reveled in the beauty of nature. Whether it was sunshine-filled days spent outdoors or quiet moments. Jeffery found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Jeffery’s musical tastes were as vibrant as his personality. He was a devoted fan of the Blues and cherished the soulful melodies of John Prine, often sharing these tunes with friends and family, creating lasting memories through music. He is survived by his loving children, Ira Vaness, Amanda Kaye, Leslie Kaye, Tammy Kaye, Tina Smoker, and Rhonda Lee. Jeffery’s legacy also lives on through his cherished grandchildren, Jacob Vaness, Izaya Vaness, Ariah Vaness, and Mataya Curtis, who brought immense joy to his life. Additionally, he is survived by his brother, Kevin Rea; along with his nephews, Teagan Rea and Keenan Rea. A Memorial Service to honor Jeffery’s life will be held at Saamis Memorial Funeral Chapel, 1 Dunmore Road SE, Medicine Hat, AB on January 13, 2025, at 1:30 PM. The family kindly requests donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, AB T2E 2P5. As we remember Jeffery Vaness, we celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, and an appreciation for the world around him. His legacy of kindness and joy will forever resonate in our hearts.
