Albertans will now have easier access to information regarding the province’s various non-profits thanks to a new online tool, the province says.

The Alberta Non-profit Listing Dashboard is an interactive, searchable database which uses the official records of the Alberta Corporate Registry. Through it, residents can search for the location, type and incorporation status of non-profit organizations, as well as gain access to charts and graphs of important data.

“Non-profits are the lifeblood of Alberta’s communities, and need quick and easy access to information that will make their incredible programs and services even better,” said Tanya Fir, Minister of Arts, Culture and Status of Women. “The new Alberta Non-profit Listing Dashboard will help all Albertans access helpful information about non-profit organizations in our province.”

This new project is part of the Alberta government’s commitment to providing non-profit organizations with data, which will aid them in making informed decisions that will improve the services and supports they offer to Albertans.

It is the province’s hope that this will help reduce red tape, as well as make it easier for organizations to find similar organizations to them, then create programming and form partnerships. Albertans eager to volunteer are now empowered with an easier way to identify local non-profit groups.

Alberta is currently home to about 27,000 non-profit organizations and registered charities, and non-profits employ nearly 84,000 Albertans.
