Minor hockey roundup: U13AA Hounds head into holidays with blowout wins

The Medicine Hat U13AA Hounds piled up the goals in a pair of wins over the weekend.

The Hounds beat the Wheatland Braves 11-3 on Saturday before shutting out the Foothills Bisons 16-0 on Sunday.

In Saturday’s win, Beckam Sprunger led the offence with two goals and five assists, Weston Haslbeck added a hat trick and a pair of assists. Teddy Maser scored a pair of goals with a pair of assists, Talon Stolz had a goal and two assists, and both Hudson Gilchrist and Tyson Nguyen had a goal and an assist. Blade Schreiner made 25 saves.

Against Foothills, Dawson Ressler stopped all 22 shots he faced for the shut-out win. Haslbeck had four goals and two assists, Gilchrist also had four goals and a helper.

Maser had a goal and four assists and both Fischer Sprunger and Raylan Johnson scored twice, with the latter adding an assist. Ben Rocheleau had a goal and two assists, both Bentley Thares and Diesel Bishop had a goal and an assist, Beckam Sprunger had six assists.

The U13AA Hounds (17-2) head into the Holidays tied for first place in the Alberta Elite Hockey League’s U13AA Division.

U15

The U15AA South East Athletic Club Tigers had a pair of road games this weekend.

They lost 4-3 Saturday to the West Central Tigers and fell 7-1 to the Red Deer Chiefs on Sunday.

Mason Pollard, Gage Bowal and Cooper Danroth each scored in Saturday’s loss, Hunter Munro made 29 saves.

On Sunday, Maddox Mikkelson scored the Tigers’ lone goal, Bryden Tschritter made 38 saves.

The U15AA SEAC Tigers (7-8-0-0-4) host a pair of games this weekend, facing the Taber Golden Suns on Saturday and the Okotoks Oilers on Sunday, both games at the Hockey Hounds arena.

U16

The Medicine Hat U16AA Hounds lost a pair of games over the weekend, falling 9-1 to the Airdrie Lightning on Saturday and 3-1 to the Okotoks Oilers on Sunday.

Noah Henderson scored the Hounds’ lone goal on Saturday, Connor Schmaltz made 53 saves.

On Sunday, Breton Villemaire scored for SEAC and Treyton Wilson made 33 saves.

The U16AA Hounds (0-17) host a pair of games this weekend, with the Wheatland Raiders at the Hockey Hounds arena on Saturday and the NWCAA Bronks on Sunday at the Kinplex.

U17

The U17AAA SEAC Tigers had a pair of weekend road games, picking up a point in a tie.

They lost 3-2 Friday to the Lloydminster Lancer on Friday before finishing 4-4 with the GPAC Storm on Saturday.

Logan Neuls and Cameron Slater each scored for the Tigers, Carson Jerome made 30 saves.

In Saturday’s draw, Illya Khazov and Dane Friedt each had a goal and an assist and both Vann Boiteau and Mason Seibel had a goal. Kayden Van Ham made 30 saves.

The U17AAA SEAC Tigers (4-8-0-1-3) host the Airdrie Avalanche on Saturday before heading on the road Sunday.

U18

The U18AA Hounds lost 4-0 Sunday in their lone game of the weekend.

The Hounds were shut out by the CBHA Rangers, outshooting them 44-35.

Kolter Gans made 31 saves in the loss.

The U18AA Hounds (9-6-0-0-3) are on the road Sunday.
