sports@medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews The Medicine Hat Cubs salvaged a point in a pair of road contests. The Cubs opened the weekend with a 4-2 loss to the Airdrie Thunder on Friday. Nolan Sutherland and Caleb Garrecht each had a goal and an assist in the loss, Tyler Wakelam made 29 saves. Airdrie outshot Medicine Hat 33-28. The Cubs managed a point Saturday, falling 5-4 in the shootout to the Cochrane Generals. Kyle Woolridge had a goal and two assists in the loss. Sutherland, Rhett Franklin and Everett Liefso all scored for the Cubs, Garrett found twine in the shootout. Adam Ranger was in net, making 32 saves as Medicine Hat outshot Cochrane 45-26. The Cubs (15-6-1) remain second in the South division and are back on the road for a pair of games this weekend. They are at Strathmore on Saturday taking on the Wheatland Kings before facing Cochrane in a rematch on Sunday. 7
