The Raymond Comets fell 37-14 in their provincial 5A high school football championship game to Edmonton’s Harry Ainlay Titans at Grande Prairie on Saturday.

Titan’s quarterback George Arbez rushed for three touchdowns and passed for another as Ainlay captured its sixth provincial title since 1985.

Comets lost starting quarterback Talan Ralph early in the game but kept it a two-score game until late in the fourth quarter during -18C conditions.

Raymond’s Gunner Nelson caught two touchdown passes.

All championship games at the Alberta Bowl weekend were played in Grande Prairie.

Holy Trinity (Okotoks) running back Seth Poelzer ran for four TDs and a record 391 yards in a 4A title game victory Knights, 49-9 over the hometown St. Joseph’s Celtics.

The 3A title was captured by the Holy Rosary (Lloydminster) Raiders 22-3 over the Cochrane Cobras.

Overtime was needed to decide the inaugural nine-a-side title game as the Peace River Pioneers edged the Ponoka Broncs 19-18.

The first six-a-side tile was captured by Millwoods Christian (Edmonton) in a wild 100-50 game over the JC Charyk (Hanna) Hawks.
