Glow Lethbridge has officially opened its doors to the community with multiple activities under one roof that offers something for everyone.
Paul Kingsmith, Director of Community Engagement with Lethbridge District and Exhibition, spoke to media Thursday during a sneak peek night prior to opening the doors to the public Friday night.
“We are thrilled to bring Glow Lethbridge back for his second year here at the Agri-food Hub and Trade Centre. Year one was such a huge success, the community told us that they loved it and they wanted it to come back,” said Kingsmith.
He said he has been told a lot of people are already starting to make it part of their holiday traditions.
“We were excited to bring it back, but we said if we’re going to bring it back, it needs to be different, it needs to be bigger and better and so we’ve done that this year,” said Kingsmith.
With a new theme this year and the addition of themed nights, Kingsmith said that even if people attended Glow Lethbridge last year, they would feel like it is their first time as it will be very different.
“You get to see a bunch of different modes of transportation and help Santa track down his lost reindeer after a crash. As you’re going through, you can help Santa find his missing reindeer. He collects stamps and at the end you have a chance to enter for a prize pack donated by the Movie Mill, ” said Kingsmith.
Upon entering, attendees can expect to see a crash scene with police tape all around it as Santa has crashed his sleigh after losing a few reindeer. They can expect to see a train to their right, which offers rides not only to children but also adults. There will be a marketplace as well as a snack bar and free photos with Santa. And in the kids section children can take part of many activities including a couple of bouncy castles.
“Last year, we had more than 20,000 guests came and visited Glow, which was an outstanding response from the community. Based on what we’re seeing this year, we would expect that it’s even more this year,” said Kingsmith.
