The Cubs, starting a five-game road trip, lost 5-1 Friday at Okotoks to the Bisons and lost 5-2 at Coaldale to the Copperheads on Saturday. Medicine Hat entered the weekend off a pair of home wins, beating the Cochrane Generals 3-1 on Nov. 2 and a 7-2 dispatch of the Mountainview Colts on Nov. 3, both at the Kinplex. Denyn Smith had the Cubs’ lone goal in Friday’s loss to Okotoks, Tyler Wakelam made 29 saves. Okotoks outshot the Cubs 34-16. In Saturday’s loss, Hayden Gebhart and Tash Armstrong both scored for the Cubs. Adam Ranger made 15 saves in the loss. The Copperheads outshot Medicine Hat 20-18. With the pair of road losses the Cubs away record sits at 4-3. They have the third-highest goal tally with 66, surrendering the fifth-fewest goals in 45. Coming out of the weekend the Cubs (11-5) sit in third place of the South division, trailing the Bisons (12-3-1) and the Strathmore Wheatland Kings (12-3). The Sylvan Lake Wranglers (14-1) lead the North division and the HJHL, sitting three points ahead of the Bisons with a one less game played. The Cubs will continue the road trip this weekend as they head to Red Deer on Saturday to face the Vipers before rolling on to face the Rocky Rams on Sunday. 10
