Jr. High volleyball champions crowned this week

The 3J and 2J South Zone Jr High Athletic Association volleyball titles were awarded this week.

Eagle Butte High School was the site of the South Zone Junior High Athletic Association 3J Girls Volleyball championships. Irvine won the the zone championship, beating Lethbridge’s Immanuel Christian Eagles.

The Irvine Tigers beat the Eagles 2-1 in the finals, storming back after dropping the first set 15-25. They bounced back in high fashion, making good after a second-place finish at Zones last year, winning the last two sets 25-9 and 15-8.

In the bronze medal game, WR Myers from Taber defeated FP Walshe from Fort Macleod 2-0 (25-22, 25-15).

Seven Persons won the 2J championships. Further details were not provided, but the Wolfpack defeated Barnwell Trojans at Senator Gershaw School in Bow Island to win the 2J gold. St. Joseph’s School took the bronze.
