QMJHL roundup: Tourigny nets 4 points, Cataractes roll Remparts 5-0

QUEBEC – Jordan Tourigny scored three goals and added an assist as the visiting Shawinigan Cataractes crushed the Quebec Remparts 5-0 in Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League action on Saturday at Centre Videotron.

Louis-Philippe Fontaine and Matvei Gridin also scored for the Cataractes (7-7), who got a 17-save shutout performance from netminder Felix Hamel.

Felix Lacerte chipped in with three assists, while Jiri Klima and Fontaine chipped in with two apiece.

The Cataractes led 1-0 after the first period and 3-0 heading into the third.

The Remparts (7-10-1-0) were outshot 30-17. Netminder Patrick Deniger stopped 25 of 30 shots for the hosts.

BAIE-COMEAU, Que. – Justin Poirier’s scored goal of the game, 38 second into overtime, lifted the Baie-Comeau Drakkar to a 4-3 victory over the visiting Gatineau Olympiques.

Jabez Seymour and Shawn Pearson also scored for the Drakkar (11-5-1-0).

Julien Paillé, Isaiah Parent and Jan Golicic scored for the Olympiques (2-13-2-0).

WILDCATS 7 FOREURS 4

MONCTON, N.B. – Caleb Desnoyers scored three goals and added two assists as the Moncton Wildcats beat the visiting Val-d’Or Foreurs 7-4.

Julius Sumpf added two goals for the Maritimes Division-leading Wildcats (12-2-2-0), while Vincent Collard and Yoan Loshing netted singles.

Noah Reinhart, Philippe Veilleux, Nathan Brisson and Nathan Baril scored for the Foreurs (4-11-1-0), who were outshot 42-19.

OCEANIC 3 TITAN 1

RIMOUSKI, Que. – Alexandre Blais set up all three of his team’s goals as the Rimouski Oceanic edged the visiting Acadie-Bathurst Titan 1-0.

Olivier Theberge, Dominic Piloter and Quinn Kennedy scored for the Oceanic (10-4-0-1), who outshot the Titan 38-22.

Louis-Francois Belanger scored for the Titan (11-6-).

BOISBRIAND, Que. – Vincent Gladu made 32 saves and earned the shutout as the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada blanked the visiting Victoriaville Tigres 6-0.

Eliot Ogonowski and Mateo Nobert each scored twice for the Armada (8-6-1-0), while Matt Gosselin and Jonathan Fauchon netted singles.

Netminder Gabriel D’Aigle stopped 31 of 37 shots for the Tigres (5-9-1-1).

EAGLES 3 ISLANDERS 1

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – The visiting Cape Breton Eagles scored three times in the third period and got a 38-save performance from Jakub Milota to edge the Charlottetown Islanders 3-1.

Luke Patterson, Dylan Andrews and Jacob Newcombe scored for the Eagles (8-7-0-1), who were outshot 39-31.

Matthew Butler scored for the Islanders (4-11-1-1).

HUSKIES 5 SEA DOGS 0

SAINT JOHN, N.B. – Samuel Meloche stopped 20 shots and earned a shutout as the visiting Rouyn-Noranda Huskies blanked the Saint John Sea Dogs 5-0.

Antonin Verreault scored twice for the West Division-leading Huskies (9-3-2-3), while Benjamin Brunelle, Lars Steiner and Ty Higgins netted singles.

Goaltender Charles-Édward Gravel stopped 32 of 37 shots for the Sea Dogs (9-8).
