Medicine Hat College shared some moments and photos over social media highlighting a student’s recent two-month internship in India through its study abroad program.

The college posted 10 photos taken in Jaipur, the largest city in the state of Rajasthan, sharing experiences of second-year student Jaxon on their Facebook page Tuesday, two days before it plans to host another information session about its overseas educational opportunities.

Jaxon says some unforgettable moments from the trip include riding an elephant and camel, local cuisine and taking in “breathtaking” views from Jaigarh Fort that overlooks the city, built in 1726.

Jaxon was also able to pick up Hindi and chat with locals and used the time to reflect on himself and the world.

“I feel better for having done it,” says Jaxon. “I learned the history, language and culture of a country different from my own. I can now think outside of my own perspective. Plus, I made good friends.”

On Thursday, the college will be hosting a one-hour information and application session for students interested in programs available at universities in South Korea, Japan and India in Room C225 starting at noon.

Travel time varies between programs from two and eight weeks. Grants may also be available to help with the cost of travel expenses.

According to the college’s page some of the benefits to pursuing one’s studies in a foreign land include job building, resume and international networks and becoming a global citizen.

Additional information and application sessions are planned on Nov. 14 and 21, as well as Dec. 5. More information can be found online under the student life tab on the college website.
