QMJHL roundup: Mann scores in OT as Sea Dogs nip Olympiques 3-2

GATINEAU, Que. – Matteo Mann scored at 3:03 of overtime to lift the visiting Saint John Sea Dogs to a 3-2 victory over the Gatineau Olympiques in Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League action on Sunday at Centre Slush Puppie.

Eriks Mateiko and Zachary Morin scored in regulation for the Sea Dogs (8-7), who were outshot 32-26.

Maxim Dubé and Lukas Landry scored for the Olympiques (2-11-1-0), who went 1-for-4 on the power play. The Sea Dogs were 0-for-2 with the man advantage.

HUSKIES 2 FOREURS 1

VAL-D’OR, Que. – Lars Steiner’s goal at 9:48 of the third period proved to be the winner as the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies edged the host Val-d’Or Foreurs 2-1.

Alex Carr also scored for the West Division-leading Huskies (8-3-1-2), while Samuel Meloche stopped 23 shots.

Philippe Veilleux scored for the Foreurs (4-9-1-0).

VOLTIGEURS 5 ARMADA 2

BOISBRIAND, Que. – Renaud Poulin and Luke Woodworth scored twice for the visiting Drummondville Voltigeurs as the knocked off the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada 5-2.

Simon-Pier Brunet also scored for the Central Division-leading Voltigeurs (11-3-0-1), while Riley Mercer made 42 saves.

Vincent Desjardins and Jonathan Fauchon had the goals for the Armada (7-6).

PHOENIX 6 MOOSEHEADS 1

SHERBROOKE, Que. – Olivier Dubois scored twice and Hugo Primeau chipped in with two assists as the Sherbrooke Phoenix rolled past the visiting Halifax Mooseheads 6-1.

Chad Bellemare, Maxime Cote, Justin Lemay and Thomas Rousseau also scored for the Phoenix (9-4), who outshot the visitors 48-18.

Jack Martin scored for the Mooseheads (7-6-2-0), who trailed 1-0 after the first period and 4-0 heading into the third.

VICTORIAVILLE, Que. – The visiting Moncton Wildcats built a 3-0 lead and then coasted to a 5-3 win over the Victoriaville Tigres.

Yoan Loshing, Loke Johansson, Markus Vidicek, Caleb Desnoyers and Dylan MacKinnon scored for the Maritimes Division-leading Wildcats (11-3-0-1), who were outshot 38-36.

Olivier Houde, Justin Gendron and Mathis Aguilar scored for the Tigres (4-8-1-1), who trailed 2-0 after the first period and 3-1 heading into the third.

DRAKKAR 8 REMPARTS 5

BAIE-COMEAU, Que. – Matyas Melovsky and Louis-Charles Plourde each scored twice as the Baie-Comeau Drakkar defeated the visiting Quebec Remparts 8-5.

Justin Poirier, Alexis Bernier, Oliver Samson and Jabez Seymour also scored for the Drakkar (9-5-1-0), who outshot the Remparts 35-31. Poirier also chipped in with three assists.

Thomas Auger scored twice for the Remparts (6-9-1-0), while Nathan Quinn, Antoine Dorion and Andreas Straka netted singles.
