Jr. High volleyball wraps up throughout week

The Medicine Hat Junior High Athletic Association boys and girls league finished the season up this week.

Earlier in the week, the girls A league wrapped up their season on Monday at the Dr. Roy Wilson Learning Centre.

The Irvine Tigers (No. 3) took the league banner with a 2-1 (25-16, 22-25, 15-11) win over the Notre Dame Bulldawgs (No. 1).

The bronze medal game also went to three sets with Seven Persons Wolfpack (No. 5), upsetting the Wilson Royals (No. 2) 2-1 (29-31, 27-25, 15-3)

Irvine will move on to the 3J zone tournament on Nov. 1-2, which they are hosting. Notre Dame, RWLC and Crescent Heights High School all qualified for zones in Magrath. Seven Persons will play in the 2J tournament at Senator Gershaw School in Bow Island.

On the boys side, their season wrapped up Wednesday at St. Mary’s School.

The No. 1 seed Notre Dame Bulldawgs capped off a 23-1 season with a 2-0 (26-24, 25-16) win the final over the No. 2 seed St. Mary’s School. The Colts were 19-5 this season.

In the bronze medal game, the No. 3 seed and last year’s champion, Seven Persons Wolfpack, were 18-8 this season and took out the No. 5 seed Parkside Pythons 2-0 (25-13, 26-24).

The Bulldawgs, Colts and Dr. Wilson Royals qualify to play in the South Zone Junior High Athletic Association 4J Volleyball Championships in Magrath Nov. 1-2.

The Wolfpack will play in the 2J Championships in Barnwell.
