Vehicle fires in Brooks on same day were unrelated, accidental

Fire crews and police in Brooks responded to a pair of vehicle fires in that city Tuesday and made an initial determination that both were accidental.

No injuries were reported after response officials responded to the Canadian Tire parking lot and a residence on Greenbrook Drive on Oct. 22.

Firefighters extinguished a fully engulfed vehicle outside the store and primary investigation suggests an errant cigarette butt as the cause. Crews also dealt with an engine compartment fire in a Dodge Charger on the residential street. A mechanical or electrical issue is the suspected cause.
