Online voting has begun to choose names of each of the city’s 15 plows and sanders after the municipal works department chose its finalists in a warm-hearted initiative that is being adopted in a number of communities across the country.
Residents can now vote on names that include “Taylor Drift,” “Sir Sand A Lot” and “Colonel Sanders” by visiting shapeyourcity.medicinehat.ca until 5 p.m. Oct. 5. The top names will be attached to plows while in service this winter.
Residents can vote in two categories that include naming the city’s four graders as well as its 11 sanders and plows.
The following names have been announced as finalists in the grader category:
