Ringette roundup: U16 Mustangs split weekend of road ringette action

The U16 Medicine Hat Mustangs had an up and down weekend of ringette action.

They kicked things off with a 10-7 win over the Indus Rise.

Sophia Smith stood tall in net, allowing the offence to rack up double-digit goals.

Leighton Wright, Margot Kerr, Reese Tabor and Kristyn Want each found the back of the net, driving the team’s offensive.

They lost the second game of the weekend, falling 7-2 on the road to Bow View. The home team found early offence. Wright scored the Mustang’s first goal, with Want recording an assist. Kerr found the back of the net later in the game, with Wright recording the assist on the marker.

The U16 Mustangs look to bounce back with a busy weekend, playing a pair of games on the road Saturday before hosting the Calgary South Heat for two games on Sunday at the Moose Rec Centre. They’ll face off at 11:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.

U14

The U14 Medicine Hat Mustangs played a double header against Bow View on Sunday at the Moose Rec Centre, dropping both contests.

Bow View won the first game 7-5. Jacquline LeBlanc was between the pipes for the Mustangs. Breanna Lanuk scored twice with an assist, and all three of Lacey Gibney, Kassidy Etienne and Brea Butterfield found the back of the net. Olivia Ulbrecht and Etienne recorded helpers.

In the second game, Dannalee Sawchuck was in net for Medicine Hat, with the Mustangs falling 8-6. Lanuk scored four times and Butterfield found the back of the net twice. Haven Ward, Gibney and LeBlanc had assists.

The U14 Mustangs are off until Nov. 2 when they’ll face off against Foothills and Bow View.

U12

The U12 Mustangs faced off against Calgary North West at the Moose.

They dropped the first game 13-7. Brinley Cross scored three times and the rest of the offence came from Annalise Robins, Evangeline Robins and Jorja Sadler. Katie Vis, Rhya Weinberger, Annabelle O’Reilly, Brinley Cross, Evangeline Robins, Addison Staheli and Aleah Barretto all contributed with assists. Grace Stirling and Zayda Dawson split time in net.

The Mustangs lost the second game 19-9. Evangeline Robins scored three goals and tallied three assists for a six-point game. Brinley Cross, Jorja Sadler and Grace Stirling each scored a pair of goals in the loss. Maizee Trotter and Addison Staheli had a pair of assists each and Aleah Barretto, Brinley Cross, Katie-Lee Sehn, Rhya Weinberger and Grace Stirling all recorded helpers.

The U12 Mustangs are in action again on Nov. 3 in a set of home games against Calgary Bow View.
