RCMP in Saskatchewan have issued an Amber Alert after a newborn baby was allegedly abducted from a health centre in the community of Montreal Lake.

Police say they were told this afternoon that five-day-old Koda Moccasin had been taken from the community, roughly 100 kilometres north of Prince Albert.

The baby boy was last seen wearing a blue sleeper.

RCMP say the child was taken by 35-year-old Merlin Junior Crookedneck, described as being five-foot-11, with a stocky build, short dark hair and brown eyes.

They say the suspect is believed to be driving a blank 2022 Hyundai Tucson SUV with Saskatchewan licence plate 965 NAN.

Police say the suspect may be travelling to the Big River, Loon Lake or Mudie Lake areas.
