The Medicine Hat Tigers traded goaltender Zach Zahara to the Wenatchee Wild for a pair of draft picks on Wednesday.

The Medicine Hat Tigers made a goaltending move Wednesday afternoon.
The Tigers sent 19-year-old net minder Zach Zahara to the Wenatchee Wild in exchange for two draft picks, a fourth-round pick in 2027 and an eighth rounder in 2025.
“We really appreciate the time Zach has spent with the Medicine Hat Tigers. He has been a true professional,” said head coach Willie Desjardins in a release. “Our situation changed when we brought in Meneghin, as a result we had too many goalies and needed to make a move. We wish Zach all the best and thank him for his time in Medicine Hat.”
The Tigers entered Wednesday with four goaltenders, 20-year-old Harrison Meneghin acquired from the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Oct. 5, Zahara, 18-year-old Ethan McCallum and 17-year-old Jordan Switzer.
Since his acquisition, Meneghin has started in three of the four games, with Switzer starting the most recent contest. Zahara had yet to appear in a game this regular season, missing time with an upper-body injury to start the year.
Meneghin started Wednesday night at Co-op Place against the Prince George Cougars, backed up by McCallum.
Zahara, a product of Rocky View, Alta., was drafted in the eighth round, 171st overall by the Tigers in the 2020 WHL Draft.
He made his WHL debut during the 2021-22 season, appearing in two games in relief. He had a full-time role in the WHL in the 2023-24 season, with a 16-7-3 record, a 3.15 GAA and an .893 save percentage.
Before joining the Tigers, Zahara played two seasons with the CSSHL South Alberta Hockey Academy, winning two Circle K Classic championships in the blue and black. There he totalled a 23-14-4 record with a 2.84 GAA and a .907 save percentage in 41 games.
