This weekend marked the first appearance of the Medicine Hat Ringette Association’s unified name, the Mustangs. The U19 team hosted the Lethbridge Rattlers on Saturday for a pair of games, winning both contests. They kicked things off with a 6-5 comeback win. After an early lead, Lethbridge was up 4-3 at the half. The U19 Mustangs scored three goals in the second half for the win. Mackenzie Tindall led the offence with three goals, and first-year U19 skater Erika Want and third-year players Sophie Kerr and Hannah Thompson each added singles. Saturday’s matchups were the first contests between the Mustangs and Rattlers since Medicine Hat’s loss in the gold medal final of the 2024 provincials. The Mustangs rebounded from an early deficit in the second game, leading 4-2 at the half. They held on for the 9-6 win. Thompson and Want scored twice in the win, and Stennick, Grace Ammann, Kerr, Tindall and Kasey Martin each added a goal. Kyree Stern-Rebmann stood tall between the pipes in the wins. The U19 Mustangs are off to St. Albert this weekend for the annual Turkey Ring tournament. U16 The U16 Mustangs started the season with home games against Lethbridge, losing both match-ups. In the first game, Leighton Wright scored twice. In the second game Jayna Allchurch, Margot Kerr and Wright each found the back of the net. They look to rebound this weekend in St. Albert in the first tournament of the season. U14 The Medicine Hat U14B Mustangs team played a double-header at the Moose Rec Centre on Sunday against the Lethbridge Rattlers. The two teams tied the first game 12-12. Breanna Lanuk scored seven goals, Brea Butterfield and Kassidy Etienne each had a pair and Lacey Gibney scored a goal. Jacqueline LeBlanc was between the pipes. Lethbridge won the second game, 10-2. Lanuk scored both of the Mustangs’ goals, Haven Ward and Ally Martin recorded assists. Danalee Sawchuk started the game in net. U12 The U12 Mustangs hit the ice Sunday with two exhibition games against the Lethbridge Rattlers. They lost the first game 12-1 and fell 13-5 in the second game. Across the two contests, Brinley Cross, Jorja Sadler and Evangeline Robins each scored a pair of goals. Grace Stirling was in goal for both games. The U12B Mustangs season start the regular season on Oct. 20 at the Moose Rec Centre vs. Calgary Northwest. 27
