QMJHL roundup: Cataractes edge Drakkar 2-1 to net third win

BAIE-COMEAU, Que. – Kody Dupuis’ goal at 10:59 of the second period snapped a 1-1 tie and lifted the visiting Shawinigan Cataractes to a 2-1 win over the Baie-Comeau Drakkar in Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League action on Saturday.

Vince Elie also scored for the Cataractes, who were outshot 30-26, but got a 29-save performance from netminder Felix Hamel. The Cataractes improved to 3-1.

Justin Poirier scored for the Drakkar, who slipped to 2-1.

The Drakkar were 1-for-4 on the power play, while the Cataractes went 1-for-2.

FOREURS 5 ARMADA 4

BOISBRIAND, Que. – Samuel Fiala’s second goal of the game, scored at 19:16 of the third period, proved to be the winner as the visiting Val-d’Or Foreurs edged the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada 5-4.

Nathan Baril, Connor Macey and William Bishop also scored for the Foreurs, who improved to a win, loss and overtime loss.

Jonathan Fauchon scored twice for the Armada (1-2), while Justin Carbonneau and Vincent Desjardins netted singles.

OCEANIC 7 OLYMPIQUES 4

GATINEAU, Que. – Jacob Mathieu scored three goals and Maxime Coursol added a goal and four assists as the visiting Rimouski Oceanic rolled past the Gatineau Olympiques 7-4.

Olivier Theberge added two goals for the Oceanic (1-2), while Pavel Simek chipped in with a single.

Simon-Xavier Cyr, Jeremie Minville, Lukas Landry and Justin Dumais scored for the Olympiques (1-3).

TITAN 3 WILDCATS 2 (OT)

MONCTON, N.B. – Mathieu St. Onge’s second goal of the game, scored 1:37 into overtime, lifted the visiting Acadie-Bathurst Titan to a 3-2 win over the Moncton Wildcats.

David-Alexandre Coulombe also scored for the Titan, who improved to 3-0.

Preston Lounsbury and Julius Sumpf scored for the Wildcats, who slipped to 2-0-1-0.

PHOENIX 3 HUSKIES 2 (SO)

SHERBROOKE, Que. – The Sherbrooke Phoenix got a goal from Alexis Doucet in the 15th round of a shootout to beat the visiting Rouyn-Noranda Huskies 3-2.

Charles-Antoine Beauregard and Olivier Lampron scored in regulation for the Phoenix, who improved to 3-1.

Axel Dufresne and Nathan Langlois scored in regulation for the Huskies, who slipped to 1-1-1-1.
