City manager signs new contract

The City of Lethbridge has signed a six-year contract with City Manager Lloyd Brierley.
Mayor Blaine Hyggen told council Tuesday that the contract ensure’s Brierley’s “extensive experience in both the private and public sector will continue to guide our staff and support residences until at least 2030.
Hyggen said stability is important to the organization and is something council “definitely was seeking as we navigate the new challenges and opportunities our city face.
He thanked Brierley for “his tireless efforts to better our community and support the City’s staff who deliver the programs and services that we rely on each and every day.”
Brierley first signed a five-year contract with the City in February of 2022 as City Manager after serving as Director of Infrastructure Services since the fall of 2021.
He replaced Craig Dalton who announced his departure in January of 2022.
Brierley came to Lethbridge from the City of Toronto where he served as Manager of Fleet Services.
He’s also worked in the private sector and at the provincial level of government.
