A 51-year-old unnamed Medicine Hat is being charged with four offences after police located a firearm inside a room in a hotel along Redcliff Drive as the Criminal Investigation Section was conducting a followup in an investigation on Sept. 10.
Police say they located a loaded sawed-ff shotgun and arrested a lone male occupant in the hotel room, who can not be named until the charges are officially sworn in court.
The 51-year-old man is to be charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, unauthorized possession of a weapon, unauthorized possession of a prohibited/restricted firearm and careless use or storage of a firearm.
The man was released and is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court on Nov. 20.
