Three people, all with the same surname, have been positively identified as victims in an “incident” occurring last Wednesday night when RCMP in Lloydminster discovered three deceased individuals while responding to check on well-being.

Just before 6 p.m. on Sept. 11 RCMP discovered the bodies of Brent Peters, 66, Matthew Peters. 32, and Brennan Peters, 34, at a residence in the vicinity of 50th Street and 47th Avenue.

Police haven’t been able to release many details as the investigation remains ongoing but say they believe the individuals were murdered and the incident appears to be targeted and isolated.

Police confirm there is no ongoing threat to the public.

“We understand the fears and anxieties that come along with seeing additional police officers in your community, but Alberta RCMP want to assure you that we are trying to bring a swift resolution to this unfortunate incident,” reads a press release.

A heavy police presence remains around the residence as expert investigators from both Alberta and Saskatchewan work to solve the crime, including the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit.

RCMP are seeking information regarding the murders of Brent, Matthew and Brennan and are asking individuals to contact the Lloydminster detachment at 780-808-8400 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
