LEAH PRUNELLA BROWN (nee HARTH)
With heavy hearts, our family announces the passing of our Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother, Leah Brown on August 16, 2024, at the age of 84. Leah was born in Kincaid, Saskatchewan, on July 14, 1940. She spent her childhood years in the Mankota and Aneroid area. In her teens, she worked at the local store in Aneroid. In 1961, she married Milton Brown from Climax, Saskatchewan. Eventually, they settled down south of Climax on the Master’s place to farm until retiring to Medicine Hat. Leah enjoyed knitting, sewing, gardening, farming and spending time with her grandchildren. Leah leaves behind her three children, Patrick Brown, Peotta (Daniel) Halderman, and Tanis (Lorne) Hiar; four grandchildren Jaci Halderman, Dayton (Terren) Halderman, Cody (Kayla) Hiar, and Taylor (Cori) Hiar; three great-grandchildren Tenley Halderman, Jack and Riley Hiar; one brother, Myril Harth; as well as numerous relatives and friends. Leah was predeceased by her parents, Louis and Emily Harth; her husband Milton Brown, and her brother Gordon Harth. A private family memorial will be held this fall.

Foggin

FOGGIN Julene Marilyn Foggin, of Beaver Flats, Saskatchewan, passed away at the age of 81 on August 29th, 2024 in Calgary, Alberta.

A memorial and luncheon will be held September 28th, 2024 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Westside Stake Centre, 560 Highlands Blvd. West, Lethbridge, AB at 12pm. Internment at the Archmount Cemetery, 2710 Westside Dr. West, Lethbridge, AB at 2pm

Julene was born on June 17, 1943 in Beaver Flats, Saskatchewan. She loved to sew, and happily taught her children, grandchildren and other children how. She also loved to garden, go for bike rides and walks in the Coulees.

She is survived by her Children, Michelle (Eric) Anderson, Dean (Terry) Foggin, Doug Foggin, and Christina (John) Furlong, her Grandchildren, Amber (Nathan) Aldridge, Jasmine (Christopher) Miller, Christopher Anderson, Dylan (Anne) Anderson, and her Great-Grandchildren, Jordan Anderson, Justin Peterson, Katherina Aldridge, Annacy Aldridge, Lilith Anderson, and Cassandra Anderson.
She is predeceased by her husband Christopher Foggin, her daughter Cynthia Foggin, and her brother Gordon Kroker.

We’d like to thank Evanston Grand Village for the care they gave her in her last years and Choice Memorial for their services at this time.
She will be dearly missed, we look forward to seeing you again in the next life.

RUTH BOSCH 1930 – 2024
Ruth Aberta Bosch of Medicine Hat passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at the age of 94 years. She leaves to cherish her memory three children, Joanne (Andrew) Minty, Lucille (Jim) Carr and Susan (Jimmie) Wutch; six grandchildren, Dominic, Juliana (Clayton), Danny (Cheryl), Tania (Ryan), James (Jessica) and Shawn, nine great grandchildren, one great great grandchild. She is survived by two sisters, Eleanor Howard and Gail Kozyriackyj and one brother-in-law, Jack McGaughey, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband Joseph, her parents, William and Myrtle (James) Gwilliam, her siblings Matthew (Marjorie), Alice (Jim) MacKenzie, William (Christine), James, Joyce McGaughey and Garry and two brothers-in-law, Barry Howard and John Kozyriackyj.
She was also predeceased by Joseph’s parents, Philip and Catherine Bosch and his siblings Rose (Nick) Schafer, Gertrude ‘Gertie’ (Tony), Frank (Lena, Rita), Anton ‘Tony’, John (Veronica) and Raphael.
Ruth was born in Hinton, Alberta, the oldest child of William and Myrtle Gwilliam. As
a young baby, her family traveled by train to Ontario and settled in the Perth area on the Scotch Line.
She was educated in country schools on the Scotch Line and continued onto high school in Perth. After graduating high school, she applied for nurses training at the Ottawa Civic Hospital and graduated in 1952 and began her career in Perth. In 1954, she ventured West with fellow nursing friends and began working at the Holy Cross Hospital in Calgary. She worked at various places across Alberta including Calgary, Cereal and Oyen.
She met her husband, Joseph Bosch, in 1954 in Calgary on a blind date. They married in August 1955, settled in Oyen and had three daughters. She became a member of the Oyen Catholic Women’s League and eventually decided to spend less time in a nursing career and more time being a loving wife and mother. In 1972, the family moved to Medicine Hat where she resided until her passing.
Mom took the time to sew outfits for her daughters and their Barbie dolls. She was talented with knitting and completed many afghans, slippers and sweaters. She became an expert in canning the many fruits and vegetables from Dad’s huge gardens. She enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. When Dad retired, Mom was able to fulfill her passion for traveling and they visited many exotic places. As the family grew, many special occasion dinners and family events were enjoyed by all, especially the celebration of Mom and Dad’s 65th wedding anniversary before Dad’s passing in 2020. Ruth enjoyed spending time with her family and will be greatly missed.
Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Sunday evening from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. and at the church one hour prior to the funeral mass. JEAN PEARCEY (nee PUTT) 1936 – 2024
A firecracker of a lady, Jean Pearcey of Medicine Hat, passed away peacefully and suddenly on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at the age of 88 years. A beloved wife to the late Harold Pearcey and a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Jean’s life was a testament to love, laughter, and vibrant spirit.

She leaves to cherish in her memory her three children: Linda (Tony) Lacher, Charlotte (Neil) Bonogofsky and Shawn (Anita) Pearcey. Her eleven grandchildren – Brad (Kim) Lacher, Michelle (Brent) McLean, Chris Lacher, Brandy Wilde (Rob Andreas), Amanda Wettlaufer (Alex Taianovski), Kayla Pearcey (David Forrest), Sabrina Pearcey, Dylan Hall (Emilia Aksdal), Maettea Sager, Brittany (Tucker) Maxwell and Timothy Deschamps – fondly caller her Nana, and she adored each of them. Jean also leaves eleven great grandchildren, Barrett, Mickey and Margo Lacher, Jaxson, Emmitt and Aiden McLean, Cayson Wilde, Kipper and Owen Wettlaufer, Jax Sager and Oliver Maxwell. She is survived by her two sisters Stella (Dave) Moore and Beverly Putt, brother Edward Putt and her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Tom Stott, Leonard (Doris) Pearcey, Lorraine (Leroy) Harden, Irene Pearcey, Elizabeth Freeland and Walt Crummel, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Jean was predeceased by her husband and friend Harold on April 2, 2020, her parents George and Hilda Putt, three sisters Hope (Dick) Fleet, Diana Stott and Theresa Putt; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Sheila (Jack) Herbert, Margaret (Steve) Stanford, Charles Pearcey, Edward (Shirley) Pearcey, Dorothy Crummel and Jim Freeland.


Born in St. John’s, Newfoundland on April 19, 1936, Jean’s early years were filled with the love of her family. Her father ran a corner store and enjoyed serving Ice Cream, while her mother managed their large household. Jean attended a convent school and later studied business at Littledale College, learning typing and shorthand, where she excelled. Through all her school years, she was an honor student. Her career began at the department store in London, New York and Paris on Water Street.

Jean Putt married her sweetheart Harold on August 7, 1957. With the births of Linda and Charlotte, her dreams started to blossom into reality. In 1966, Jean followed her beloved husband, Harold, to Medicine Hat when he proudly took a position as a printer with the Medicine Hat News. Once settled in Medicine Hat, her heart’s desires were fulfilled with the birth of their son, Shawn, to complete her family. Jean worked at McAvity and Sons (now Clow Canada) for a number of years and then took a position with the MacLean Wiedemann Law Firm where she worked for David MacLean as his legal secretary for 25 years, until ill health forced her to retire. She loved her job dearly and made many long-lasting friendships along the way. Jean enjoyed being a mother and homemaker and then enjoyed being a grandmother and great grandmother even more.

Jean was a force of nature. Her infectious laughter, creative spirit, and unyielding love made her the heart and soul of her family. Whether knitting, crafting, or indulging her love for Elvis, Jean approached life with unbridled enthusiasm. A good casino night was always a hit and dragging her out early was no easy task. She was an active member of the Moose Club and Eagles, a craft show enthusiast, and a bingo champion, proud to have won the first Satellite Bingo.

Nana Jean’s eyes would light up when she would share tales of ‘The Rock’, in a Newfie accent that could charm the sea, creating a love and pride for their Newfoundland heritage that will endure for generations. We’ll cherish memories of laughter-filled card games and crib matches, treasured newspaper clippings, and texts that brought us closer.

Despite battling heart disease since 1995, Jean remained vibrant and engaged, even taking a computer course at age 70 to stay connected with her loved ones. Her quick wit, no filter, a kind heart, was the essence of our family. Her warmth, open-mindedness, humor, and heart of gold were truly out of this world. Her pride in her family was unparalleled, and she reveled in every moment, big or small, of our lives.

Jean’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and light. As we say goodbye, we will hold her memory close and strive to carry forward the joy she brought into our lives.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Myrna R. Storlien (nee Anderson) on September 9, 2024.
Myrna is survived by her children, Deborah (Curtis) and Jill (Rob); her grandchildren, Sarah (Tom) and Garrett; her great-grandchildren, Harold (Harry) and Tillie; her godchild, Nicole (Chad) and many nephews and nieces. She is pre-deceased by her husband, Harold; her parents, Wayne and Araminta Anderson; stepfather, Aubrey; siblings, Colleen (Bob), Phil (Jane), and Randy; father-in-law, Sigurd, and mother-in-law, Ann; and brother-in-law, Len, and sister-in-law, Sue.
Myrna loved working in her beautiful gardens, making cross stitch pictures and caring for her cherished pets, Brandy, Tiffany and Mollie. She and Harold thoroughly enjoyed family vacations in Hawaii; their trips to Greece, Sweden and Norway; and spending time with family and friends.
Myrna unfortunately dealt with many challenging health problems throughout her lifetime. The care and support from her family, friends, and more in the later years, her church community, was appreciated. In particular, her friend, Beth, and her visiting teachers and friends, especially Jenny and Maureen, who supported her during many years. Myrna had employed several private caregivers during the last years of her life who all took very good care of her which was appreciated.

CURTIS EREMENKO December 26, 1976 ~ September 10, 2024 It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Curtis William Everett Eremenko, on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at the age of 47 years. Left to mourn his loss is his wife, Darcee; sons, Dillon and Charlie; his mother, Donna Eremenko; sisters, Christy (Simon) Vince, Corry (Rory) Eremenko; and brother, Clayton. Curtis was predeceased by his father, Harvey Eremenko, and his mother-in-law, Evelyn Clish.He was born and raised in MH and following his graduation from Hat High in 1995, Curtis went to work at Mr. Lube where he remained a loyal and dedicated employee for 27 years. As manager, Curtis took pride in his job and loved the people he served. He was known for his friendly smile, easy going manner, and his willingness to help anyone and everyone.A proud father, Curtis loved playing video games with Charlie and watching Dillion’s musical theatre performances. He enjoyed family movie nights, watching Blue Jays games, and spending time outside on the deck with his dog, Oscar. MARILYN BURKE

1942 ~ MARILYN BURKE ~ 2024 Marilyn Emma Burke (nee Sherwin) of Medicine Hat passed away suddenly on Friday August 23rd, 2024 at the age of 82. Her death was a tragic accident which no one could have foreseen or realistically prevented.
Marilyn is survived by her husband of 60 years, Mason (Doug) Burke.
Marilyn is also lovingly remembered by her son, Desmond (Karen Peters) and granddaughter, Mera; and her daughter, Danielle Donington (Carl), and grandsons, Callum and Graeme. Left to cherish Marilyn’s memory as well are her sister, Darlene Hase (Werner) and her nephews, Shaun (Yumi) and Aaron (Anna); sister, Hazel Maurer, and niece, Michele (Arne Simon), and nephew, Todd; sister, Dallas King, and niece, Jodette Bergen and nephew, Jared Bergen (Candace); nephews, Tim Sherwin (Betty) and Calvin Sherwin (Alison); niece, Marnel Hesterman (Keith), and nephew, Cory Sherwin; nephews, Nathan McKay (Elizabeth Van Herk) and Benjamin McKay.
Marilyn is predeceased by her father, Melville Sherwin; mother, Lydia (Geigle); and stepmother, May (Oakes); her brother, Dale Sherwin and his wife, Louise (Schinbien); and her sister, Velma McKay.
Gone too soon as well is Marilyn and Doug’s daughter, Daun Burke.
Marilyn was born in Coronach, Saskatchewan on January 20th, 1942. The passing of her mother when Marilyn was just a toddler darkened what would have otherwise been a typical happy prairie town childhood. Instead of being orphaned, which was the custom for young daughters of widowers, she and her sister Darlene found themselves living for 2 1/2 years with their Grandpa and Grandma Sherwin, who was, in Marilyn’s words, “mean.” Once her father remarried, Marilyn was greatly relieved to be back with him. This relief was short-lived however, as Marilyn soon found herself in the role of assistant caregiver to her half-sisters rather than getting to restart her childhood.
Marilyn completed Grade 12 at Crane Valley School in 1960 and after one year studying accounting at a college in Assiniboia, signed up for the Canadian Armed Forces at the first opportunity. She enlisted in the Air Force on July 11,1961 and met Doug soon after, who was also in the military. They worked side-by-side as clerks. They were married on April 4, 1964. Leading Aircraftwoman Marilyn Emma Burke was honorably released from the Air force on November 29, 1964, “for marriage,” and she and Doug had their first child 8 days later.
After that, and despite her childhood, Marilyn seemed almost solely dedicated to providing a safe, loving (and exceedingly tidy!) environment in which her family could grow and thrive (traumatic events would never be far away, however). Still, she managed to carve out space for her walks, golfing, gardening, preparing income taxes on the side, and receiving a diploma in professional nanny training. She also had her ‘night life’, as it were, staying up most days until 3:00 am puttering around the house, watching old movies, dozing off, and eventually finding her way to bed.
When Doug retired from the Armed Forces, he and Marilyn settled in Medicine Hat, where they’ve been ever since. Later life saw the two of them taking many tours and cruises. More recently they had been really enjoying Condo life and making many friends in their building. Marilyn was especially fond of her cards and jigsaw puzzle groups.
Marilyn never learned to drive a car. She walked out of necessity and because she loved it. Sadly, it was on one of these walks that Marilyn’s life was cut short. Cremation has taken place. Interment and a celebration of life for Marilyn will be held at a later date.
In lieu of arranging for flowers or gifts, please take that time to review and ensure you and your loved one’s affairs are in order. Marilyn’s family is most grateful that this was the case as much as could be expected given the circumstance.

PENNY ROLLEFSTAD 1933 ~ 2024
Elizabeth Frederika Rollefstad (nee Stock), 90, of Medicine Hat, AB, passed away on September 10, 2024. Born October 2, 1933, she grew up on the prairies on a farm near Schuler, AB. Raised by her Aunt Rose and her grandparents, Phillip and Elizabeth Schafer, until the passing of her grandmother, at which time she moved to Golden Prairie, SK, to live with her parents. She later moved to Medicine Hat and worked at Medalta Potteries with her mom. She married Earl Rollefstad on June 28, 1952, and they had 2 sons. Penny lived her life to the floor and go! She had a deep love for travelling and enjoyed many trips all over the world, highlighting her adventurous spirit. She was a social butterfly and thrived on interacting with people and made friends wherever she went. She loved to laugh and tell jokes and was well known for her storytelling with immense passion and enthusiasm. She always had food and treats around because she wanted everyone to feel comfortable and happy. She had a deep love of music and the way music can impact your emotions and state of mind. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Rollefstad; her father, William Stock; and her mother, Katherine Stock (nee Schafer). Survived by her son, Rob and Sue Rollefstad ((grandchildren, Kyle and Jill Rollefstad (great-grandsons, Ronin and Arie Rollefstad), Joel Rollefstad and Larissa Svekla (great-granddaughters, Ivy and Ruby Rollefstad), and Bryce and Staci Rollefstad)); her son, Scott and Sherry Rollefstad (grandson, Colin Bolinger). She had a special connection with Shannan Unrau and her family and Valerie Schafer and her family. BLAKE PALMER 1977 ~ 2024
Blake John Harrington Palmer passed away peacefully with family by his side on September 8, 2024. He is survived by his father, Marshall Palmer, and his wife, Gayle; sister, Meara Palmer, and nephew, Coen; sister, Polly Sue (Tim) Colwell and nephews, Matthew and Liam and, niece Lydia; his brother, Robert Palmer; as well as numerous friends and their children, whom he considered family in every regard. Blake was predeceased by his dedicated and loving mother, Adele Palmer (Novak) on June 12, 2018, and his favourite aunt, Olga Young (Tzo Tza) on December 11, 2022. Blake was raised in Medicine Hat, Alberta, and chose architecture as his career. He attended Montana State University (Bozeman), where he received his Master’s in architecture and graduated with Honours. Blake loved to learn and received many accolades including the Tau Sigma Delta Medal, Outstanding Thesis Award, Critical Regionalism Competition (2nd place), and he obtained his Sustainable Building Advisor certification (SBA). Blake was a kind and caring person. Family and friends were of the utmost importance to him. Blake was artistic and creative, and he loved a challenge. His adventurous spirit took him across Canada on his bicycle, hiking, snowboarding, fire dancing, and spreading positivity wherever he travelled. He could usually be found at the Frisbee golf course “training for the Olympics”. Sincere thanks and deep appreciation for the help, caring, and kindness expressed to us by family, friends, neighbours, and healthcare workers during his struggle with cancer.
