CHERYL GRAVELLE January 25, 1952 ~ August 31, 2024
Cheryl Darlene Gravelle (nee McKay) died at the age of 72 on Saturday, August 31, 2024.
Cheryl was born in Pincher Creek, Alberta on January 25, 1952, to Frank and Marie McKay. She studied nursing at St. Michael’s School of Nursing where she graduated from that program’s very last class, and went on to practice nursing in Bow Island for most of her career. She married David Gravelle in Bow Island in 1976, where they raised three children: Erin, Ryan and Mark. Cheryl was involved in her children’s sporting endeavours volunteering for Bow Island Minor Hockey and Figure Skating.
Being dedicated to family, she split time between Calgary and Riverhurst on extended family visits. She also spent many winter getaways to warm destinations with her children and grandchildren, and summers at the cottage on Lake Diefenbaker.
Cheryl’s sweet and loving nature was well understood by her three grandchildren who adored spending time with her. She was always available to listen to their stories, appreciate their creations, and spend time cuddling. Attending their sporting events, choir concerts and birthday parties was her greatest joy.
Cheryl’s generous spirit ignited her love of shopping for her family. She recently took each of her grandchildren back to school shopping to ensure they had everything they needed for a successful school year.
Cheryl was predeceased by her parents and her son, Ryan. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, David; children: Erin (Tom) Anderson and Mark (Tricia) Gravelle; grandchildren: Mary, Matthew, Jesse and Noah; brother, Ken; sister, Susan as well as many nieces and nephews.

PAULINE RUCKABER August 11, 1922 ~ August 28, 2024
It is with reflective sadness that the family of Pauline Ann Ruckaber announces her passing after 102 glorious years of life. Pauline was born on August 11, 1922, on a farm outside of Liebenthal, SK., and passed away peacefully at River Ridge Seniors Centre in Medicine Hat on August 28, 2024. As a youngster, Pauline laboured in the fields and stables of the homestead farm. She married her beloved husband who has since passed, a World War II Veteran, William (Bill) Casper Ruckaber (1991). In 1945, they settled on a grain and cattle farm between Midale and Macoun, SK., where Pauline was a homemaker and raised four children. In the late 1960’s, they moved to Medicine Hat. Pauline continued to live in Medicine Hat and her later years at River Ridge until her passing. Pauline loved music, both singing and playing the guitar. She also enjoyed square dancing, reading Wild West novels and playing cards and other games, but mostly she loved visiting with her grown children and grandchildren. Pauline is survived by her sons, Ron (Kathy) of Regina and Al of Medicine Hat; daughters, Gloria (Vern) Fortowsky of Stony Plain and Brenda of Medicine Hat; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Adam (Terry) Mastel of Medicine Hat and her sister, Kathy (Peter) Hamel of Lethbridge. She was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Katie Mastel; husband, Bill; brothers, Albert, Adolf, Peter and John Mastel and her sister, Mary Penner. A time of visitation was held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel prior to the private graveside service at Hillside Cemetery. Rest in Peace, Mom! Mavis Yvonne Stengler of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Bruce Stengler, passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Friday, August 30th, 2024 at the age of 89 years. Mavis leaves to cherish her memory her son, David (Reta) Stengler of Medicine Hat, AB; daughters, Denise Stengler (Oscar Medina) and Dianne (Michael) Andjelic, all of Calgary, AB; four grandchildren, Sheena and Shyla of Medicine Hat, AB and Sebastian and Bryanne of Calgary, AB; great granddaughter, Emma of Medicine Hat, AB; as well as her siblings and numerous nieces and nephews. Mavis was predeceased by her parents, Clarence and Alma Sunde; husband, Bruce in 2022; and several of her siblings. Mavis was born in Assiniboia, SK on May 1, 1935. She attended Grey Nuns nursing school in Regina, SK and accepted a position in Moose Jaw, before moving to Vancouver, BC to continue her nursing career. She married Bruce Stengler in 1957 and they moved to Medicine Hat where they worked together at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital until she retired. During the 1970’s and the 80’s, they we were involved in women’s hockey, taking their daughters and teammates to several tournaments in Western Canada. Mavis enjoyed camping with her family and spending time at the family cabin in Saskatchewan. She enjoyed going to the Tiger’s hockey games, watching hockey, Blue Jays baseball games, and any sports in general. She lived at St. Joseph’s home for the past three and a half years where she met and acquired many new friends and residents whom she considered family. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Saamis Memorial Funeral Chapel, 1 Dunmore Road SE, Medicine Hat, AB, on Friday, September 6th, 2024 from 12:30 to 1:25 pm. The Funeral Service will follow at Saamis Memorial Funeral Chapel at 1:30 pm with Pastor Shane Hein officiating. CRYSTAL M.F. CRAWFORD December 9th, 1959 September 3rd, 2024 Crystal Crawford passed away on September 3rd, 2024, at the age of 64 years. She leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Fern Jones; partner, Ken Drozdz; son, Keith (Heidi) Crawford; grandchildren, Austin, Cheyenne, Nadia, Tyrell and Jasper; four great grandchildren; brothers, Wayne (Dianna), Jim (Michelle), Clay and Roy (Phyllis). Crystal was predeceased by her father, Norman Jones.
Crystal was born in Calgary and raised in Alberta and spent most of her life in Creston, British Columbia. After graduating high school, Crystal moved to Redcliff, AB and worked at Dominion Glass then at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital.
Crystal enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and working with people. She loved company, yard work and flowers.

KEN INGENTHRON 1942 – 2024 Kenneth “Ken” Charles Ingenthron, beloved husband of Marlene Ingenthron of Medicine Hat, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the age of 82 years. Left to honour his memory are his children: Lynda Ingenthron (Jim Wessel), Barry Ingenthron, Brian and Andrea Ingenthron; his grandchildren: Christopher Krushel, Kirsten Krushel, Jillian Ingenthron and Nathan Ingenthron; his great grandchildren: Peyton, Karly, Colt and Cavery; his brothers: Bill Ingenthron and Ron Ingenthron as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Ken was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Jean Ingenthron, brother Dale, and infant sister Elaine as well as his mother and father-in-law Edith and Jack Gebhardt. Ken was born on March 20, 1942 in Linacre, Saskatchewan, the second oldest of five children. When he was very young, the family moved to Medicine Hat. When Ken was in high school, he attended Anthol Murray College of Notre Dame to pursue his love of hockey and football which he continued throughout his life. Ken, along with his wife Marlene, moved to Yellowknife where he started working for Cominco Gold Mines and eventually started his career in Corrections. Returning to Medicine Hat in 1974, Ken continued his work in corrections, playing hockey and raising his family. Throughout his life, Ken enjoyed travelling, wine and spirit making, golf, gardening, hockey and baseball. The celebration of Ken’s life will be held in the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTRE on Friday, September 6, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with Life Celebrant David Townsend officiating. Eva Ottilia (Tillie) Schafer passed away at the age of 91years. She is survived by her children: Karen-Ann Hall (Richard), Marlene Schafer, Darvin Schafer, Lanna Morgan (Daryl); her grandchildren: Joseph Hall, Kathleen Glasgo (Tyler), Daniel Hall (Carmen), Dustin Morgan (Bryony) of Australia, Brendan Morgan (Maj) of Denmark; great-granddaughters: Oaklynn Glasgo, Ryann Glasgo and Vida Hall; her sister Kathleen Kuntz (Clem); brothers-in-law Robert Woolley, George Schafer, Ed Schafer (Marg), David Schafer (Cleora), Tony Schafer (Lucille), James Schafer (Sandy) her sisters-in-law Bernice Desrosiers (Bob) and Marie Wiedeman (Allan), Leona Leismeister, Ev Leismeister, Delores Schafer and Lillian Schafer.
She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years Joseph Nicholas Schafer, her parents Jack and Dorothy Leismeister, her brothers, Basil Leismeister, Frank Leismeister, Jack Leismeister (Carol), her sister Loraine Woolley, sister-in-law Theresa Schafer; brothers-in-law Sylvester Schafer, Philip Schafer, Ben Schafer; nephew Darcy Leismeister, niece Lacinda Kuntz; and her father and mother-in-law Anton and Eugenia Schafer.
Mom married our dad, Joseph Schafer June 19, 1954. They lived in Medicine Hat where they raised their four children. Mom was often in the kitchen, baking her famous buns and sweets which she absolutely loved to do. She loved to entertain, and had family and friends over for supper to visit and enjoy each other’s company. Her family was dear to her. She loved her children ,grandchildren and siblings with all her heart. When she was overjoyed, she was often seen with tears in her eyes. She will be dearly missed by all who were touched by her loving spirit. Those who wish to pay their respects may do so one hour prior to the prayer service. Family and friends will gather for prayers in the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTRE on Thursday, September 5th at 7:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated in HOLY FAMILY PARISH (1451 Strachan Road S.E.) on Friday, September 6, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. with Fr.
