New set of winners take crown at Connaught’s 91st Southeastern

The 91st rendition of Connaught Golf and Country Club’s Southeastern tournament saw new winners take centre stage.

The local golf course’s flagship event of the summer kicked off on Saturday and wrapped up on Monday with 112 golfers vying for championship honours.

Cathy Fisher won the ladies’ competition, finishing 20 strokes ahead of the next golfer with a +13. She shot an opening round of 78, scoring 76 on Sunday and finishing the weekend with a 78.

Stephania Duffee came in second place, shooting +33 (83, 79, 90). Oi Batsel finished third, shooting +46 (88, 89, 88).

Waldy Batsel won the senior men’s competition, finishing -1 on the weekend. He shot 70 on Saturday and tallied rounds of 73 and 75 on Sunday and Monday.

Perry Rasmussen finished second at +1 (74, 73, 73). Fred Mandel was third, shooting +2 (76, 70, 75).

The men’s competition was won by Sam Bratvold, who finished the weekend -9. An opening round of 69 led him in the weekend, shooting a consistent 70 both Sunday and Monday.

Ryan Werre, who had won the last four Southeastern tournaments, finished second at -5 (70, 68, 75). Jordan Forsythe finished third at -1 (70, 76, 71).

David Shott won the five-player junior flight, finishing +19 with rounds of 74, 82 and 82.
