Cancarb boasting environmental ranking with global firm

@MedicineHatNews A local manufacturer is touting its inclusion on a list of top environmental performers. Cancarb manufactures carbon black at a production plant in Medicine Hat that is coupled with a heat recovery power generator. It said this week that for a second straight year it has been ranked among the top 1 per cent of 130,000 companies worldwide in the Eco Vadis network. That company evaluates and certifies goals in client’s operations pertaining to environmental, sustainability and governance goals. “A pillar of Cancarb’s corporate identity is our commitment to the environment, our customers, employees and community, which can only be achieved by being a sustainable and responsible organization,” said Cancarb president Peter Donnelly. “While always grateful for the recognition, Cancarb is careful to remember this does not represent an end destination; the work continues in being an important contributor to Tokai Carbon Group’s Net-Zero Initiative” Cancarb’s parent company, Japan-based Tokai Carbon, has set an environmental goal of operating on a net-zero basis by 2050. 10-9
