Staff at the Root Cellar are calling third annual Amazing Race for Hunger an outstanding success.
The event raised $96,231.80 for the Emergency Food Pantry, as well as overwhelming support from participants, volunteers, donors and the greater community.
Executive director Melissa Mullis said, “This was an incredibly heartwarming day. We are deeply thankful for the outpouring of support from our community. The unity and generosity we witnessed today were truly inspiring.”
The event featured teams racing across the city, completing challenges at various local businesses and landmarks.
At the end of a day of fierce but good-natured competition, the Seven Oak Sleepsterz team, consisting of Missy and Tyler Davidson, claimed first place, followed closely by Hale Storm team members Troy and Brock Hale and finally Ira Hozack and Dawson Treen, football players from Medicine Hat High School.
“This year’s race has not only raised vital funds but also strengthened the bonds within our community, proving once again that when we come together, we can achieve incredible things,” a release from the Root Cellar said, adding thanks all involved in this year’s event.
