New students at Medicine Hat College are invited to participate in both an online and in-person orientation before fall class begins in September.

Next week the college is hosting its two-day Thrive orientation program on Aug. 29 and 30 that includes several helpful workshops for new and returning students.

The drop-in workshop covers a variety of topics including ‘Student Success Superpowers’ and ‘Mental well-being boost for college.’

Each drop-in workshop runs for an hour and a half. A full schedule can be found online at mhc.ab.ca/thrive.

Thrive, as well as a new student orientation planned in September, are designed to help provide students helpful information to guide them through the first month of studies.

Participating students will have the opportunity to get a virtual student ID card, textbooks and course supplies and allow students to access their class schedule.

New students will also have an opportunity to review class changes, health insurance options and pay tuition if needed.

Participants will be introduced to the Bookstore where course supplies are available, as well as other support services on campus, including the fitness centre.

Students will also be introduced to the Student Association and MHC Ambassador Program.

The new student orientation runs Sept. 3 beginning at 9 a.m. More information can be found by visiting the Medicine Hat College Facebook page.

The deadline for students to add a new class is Sept. 11, and the deadline to drop a class without penalty and tuition fees is Sept. 18.

This year the college is offering free parking in all open and gravel parking lots. Parking in plug-in spots still requires a parking pass and can be purchased through the HotSpot app.
