news@medicinehatnews.com The Medicine Hat College Centre for Innovation is hosting a four-hour agriculture awareness event in the campus main entrance today. The event, called ‘Local Roots: Rural Agriculture With Reach,’ runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will provide participants an opportunity to learn about the importance of agriculture within the community. Twenty-five participants who previously registered will also receive a free food kit featuring ingredients from local farmers. Each kit serves two people and includes premium steaks, fresh potatoes and cucumbers. The goal of the event is to enhance public awareness of agriculture and foster a deeper understanding of its role in the region. The event is partly funded by the federal government under the province’s Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership. The college’s Centre for Innovation launched two years ago and works on collaborations between researchers, faculty, students and industry partners in the region. 8
