KARI BRITTNER

In Loving Memory of KARI BRITTNER October 12, 1935 – August 18, 2024
The family of Kari Brittner is saddened to announce the passing of their loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Kari passed away peacefully at Masterpiece Retirement Home, which has been her home for the past three years.
Kari was born in Norway October 12, 1935, and at the young age of 19 years old she decided to be adventurous and travel to Canada where she was employed as a caregiver for a local Norwegian senior couple in the small town of Acadia Valley Alberta. Kari was a determined young lady to make life in a new country of Canada despite leaving behind her family consisting of her parents, one brother and two sisters. Despite Kari’s limited English-speaking ability, she worked hard for the Acadia Valley family and also found time to meet a young charming man named Sig (Siegesmund) Brittner; soon after their meeting they married on November 5, 1956. Kari and Sig had 4 wonderful children and took up farming in the Richmound Saskatchewan community.
Kari and Sig moved from Richmound Saskatchewan to Medicine Hat Alberta despite having many friends and great relationships in Richmound. Kari absolutely flourished in Medicine Hat. Here is where she became active with the Church , volunteered with different organizations and became employed by Tip Top Tailors. Her story at Tip Top was one of hard work and being so appreciated and trusted by so many customers. Kari won sales awards at Tip Top and she was awarded a trip to Quebec City to receive a Canada wide sales award that made her and her family so very proud.
Kari will be lovingly remembered by her surviving family, her children David (Bonnie) Brittner, Ingrid (Duncan) Chisholm, Robin (Heather) Brittner and daughter-in-law Yvonne Brittner. Kari was predeceased by her son Richard Brittner in 2000 and in November of 2023 her husband Sigesmund (Sig) Brittner.
Kari will be fondly remembered by her eleven grandchildren, Jamie (Chantal) and Justin (Natalie) Chisholm, Kaylen (Tyler) Christiansen, Kristin (Dylan) Armstrong, Kevin (Laura) and Jerret (Alyssa) Brittner, Kari Ann (Trevor) Wenzel, Chad (Jody) Brittner, Paulina (Tom), Madison and Zach Brittner. Kari also had the opportunity to enjoy fourteen great-grandchildren. They will all greatly miss the wonderful attitude and fun loving teasing and funny expressions Grandma Kari (Kay) would use to make them laugh.
Kari is survived by her sister Berit and sister-in-law, brother-in-law Katherine (John) Lawrence and sister-in-law Betty Irving. She was predeceased by her parents Kristian and Ingrid Pedersen and siblings Inge Berg and Kristian Martin.
In addition, Kari was a loving Aunt to many nieces and nephews in Canada, Norway and Sweden.
The Brittner family would like to extend a big thanks to the Masterpiece staff in SL4 Unit for the kindness and care and overall great relationship provided to Kari during her time at Masterpiece. “She truly enjoyed her time on this lovely boat”
