@MedicineHatNews The jaws of life were needed to remove the passenger of a car that collided with a semi-truck near Brooks on Saturday, RCMP in that city report. Police say the crash happened at the intersection of the Trans-Canada and Highway 36, west of the city, when the transport truck attempted to cross the No. 1 in heavy fog. The injured passenger was flown to hospital in Calgary via helicopter. An investigation is ongoing. Hefty fines Brooks RCMP say a resident faces $7,400 in fines after he allegedly failed to yield at a pedestrian crosswalk and an investigation showed he was driving with a suspended learner’s permit, without insurance and was smoking in the vehicle with a minor present. The vehicle has been impounded for 30 days and the man is set to appear in court in October. 8
