Medicine Hat was double represented at the National Speedo Swimming Championships last week.
Two Alberta Marlin Aquatic Club swimmers, Rowynn Biffart and Caen McWilliams, raced at the national championships held at the Pan Am Pool in Toronto. They raced against 900 other athletes from more than 150 clubs.
The 14-year-old McWilliams had three races, finishing 30th in 50m Back prelim, 32nd in 200m Back prelim and 38th in 100m Back prelim, a new 14-year-old Western Canada time.
The 15-year-old Biffart swam in 13 different races. She finished ninth in 200m Breast final, 10th in 200m Breast prelim, 11th in 50m Free final (new sr. trial time) and 200m IM final (A Sr. trial time, 15-16 year old club record and 16 and 17 year old youth recognition), 14th in 200m IM prelim, 17th in 100m Free final, 18th in 50m Free prelim, 20th in 100m Free prelim (new 15-year-old youth recognition Top 10, new 15-16 year old club record, a Sr. Olympic trial time and 16-17 national time), 21st in 100m Breast prelim, 28th in 50m Fly prelim, 32nd in 50m Breast prelim, 100m Fly prelim and 52nd in 400m Freestyle prelim (new 15-year-old Western Canada time).
