The Medicine Hat Tigers forward was named to Canada’s roster for the U18 Hlinka Gretzky tournament to be held in Edmonton from Aug. 5-10. McKenna previously represented Canada at the U17 Hockey Challenge in 2023. He also stole the stage at the 2024 U18 World Championships in May, where he helped Canada win gold with a record-breaking 10 goals and 20 points in seven games. McKenna is one of eight Western Hockey League players named to Canada’s roster after a four-day selection camp at WinSport in Calgary. Tigers’ forward Kadon McCann was named to Canada’s Summer Showcase for the U18 roster. Prior to the start of the tournament, Team Canada will take on Slovakia on Aug. 1 at 7 p.m. and Czechia on Aug. 3 at 7 p.m. Canada opens the Hlinka Gretzky Cup against Switzerland on Aug. 5 at 7:30 p.m. It will also face Slovakia and Sweden in the preliminary round before the tournament concludes with the medal games on Aug. 10. 8
